Lisa shares lots of information, but it’s not so much that it’s overwhelming. And I love that she tells you exactly what gear she has found works best for family films.
When I first signed up for the course, I introduced myself and posted a question for Lisa (about the best lenses for family filmmaking), and she responded within hours. I’m looking forward to learning more from Lisa in the days and weeks to come!

The lessons are meaty but digestible, making complex filmmaking concepts feel approachable. The skill-building suggestions are like little assignments, and I feel like I can use them over and over to practice different aspects of filmmaking even as I grow. Lisa’s fun to watch, almost like having friend guide you through filming. I really enjoyed this.

Signing up felt like a risk, but I’m in a place where I felt like I really needed to try something new. I can’t overstate how much I got out of this. The lessons and demos were easy to follow and broke things down really clearly. You just have to dive in and do it. I watched/read the whole course and then gave myself an afternoon to start making my first real video using the cheat sheets, and I LOVED the process. This is exactly what I needed right now. Hi Dawne – DaVinci Resolve has both a free version and upgraded version, and Lisa provides a workflow that’s fully compatible with the free version (so it’s not necessary to purchase any additional applications!).

Lisa was able to break down the entire process into a step by step guide with skill building module at the end of each section. Talk about actionable plans!!!! I am always drawn to film making but all the aspects overwhelms me for sure. Now I feel a lot more confident about taking baby steps to make some great stories. I also love that Lisa included in the class some promotion and business guidance as well. Video has become extremely popular and I am excited to explore ways to incorporate video into my business!

The lessons are perfectly paced, with enough detail for me to really get it but also to the point so I didn’t feel like I needed to skip ahead. She covers a lot of ground here, probably more than I’ve seen before since she gets right into it with editing too. That was really really helpful for me because when I have played with video before, I just ended up with a few clips I didn’t really know what to do with. I’ve had clients asking about video, and this really gives me what I need to finally start incorporating it in my sessions. Worth every penny and more.

You can tell Lisa put so much work into this. Even though I have been doing photography for 12 years, film making is so foreign to me and I really enjoy that Lisa breaks everything down from gear, to settings, to audio, to composition, to storytelling, to editing, and how and why she makes the choices she makes. She even breaks things down by budgets because let’s face it, gear is an investment and sometime we need to start small. So I love that those options are suggested. This course is so easy to digest and follow and I love the behind the scenes videos too. It really helps me to visual all the knowledge put into action. I am looking forward to digesting each section and practicing a new skill!! Lisa just has so much knowledge and I love learning from her.
