about your presenter

Maryam Salassi is an award-winning family photographer in the San Francisco Bay Area who balances the chaos and energy of fun family sessions with the help of workflows and systems for a smooth and painless client experience. While she has a degree in fine art photography, her background as a claims adjuster, former salon owner, and elementary art teacher have had the biggest impact on the way she runs her business.

  2. I loved watching Maryam’s process from start to finish. I was so helpful to see how the pre-session questionnaire/call led to conversations in the session and how the session vibe played into the culling process. I was thrilled to get access to the questionnaire to use in my own business!
    If you are looking to see how someone uses their own personal strengths and people skills in their photography business workflow and style, this is it! Maryam beautifully models how to make clients comfortable and confident in order to create genuine and personalized photos that they can have to memorialize this season of their life. While watching the session videos, I laughed along with the clients while simultaneously taking copies notes on Maryam’s technique.   3. Such a great class! Maryam shared a ton of great info on how to set client expectations from the get go. She shares her entire pre-shoot workflow, which is so helpful in creating a positive client experience. I’ll definitely be implementing some of the advice from her PDF. But what I found the most valuable was the behind the scenes videos. I loved watching how natural and conversational Maryam was with her clients–you can see that she made it a priority to put down the camera sometimes and just connect with the kids. With my own photography, I sometimes have a tendency to go into ‘director’ mode when I photograph my client, so it was really nice to see how Maryam just let the scene unfold and capture natural and playful moments. Glad I took this class because I gained valuable insight on how to get clients to relax and just be themselves.

  4. Relaxed and Connected: Prepping Clients for a Perfectly Unposed Session by Maryam Salassi is a course I wish existed when I was first starting my photography business. Even now, a few years into a business, there is so much information I can take away and implement today in my own practices. She literally takes you through her entire process of working with clients from beginning at inquiry to end even after the gallery has been sent. Her course is as happy and entertaining as she is so it’s fun to watch her work her magic in her videos. You can almost hear her voice coming through the pages of the ebook as if you were being mentored one on one with her while reading it. I’d highly suggest this course to beginners getting their businesses started as well as those established in a business that might want to fine tune their workflow and/or elevate their client experience. I know that’s one area I have some work to do so I can’t wait to sit down and brainstorm some of my take aways to implement soon!
