I have so enjoyed learning from D’Ann! I especially appreciated how she was able to consolidate so much information into easy to follow and digest videos. I have had such a great time trying her tips out around my house. She’s given me a shot in the arm to creatively get through the rest of our stay home orders. This course is very valuable not just to a family photographer but also to a parent or any art enthusiast. D’Ann shows how she created these beautiful images, she shares not only her editing and behind the scenes information but also her vision. To me, authentic vision is probably the most important part of the photography as an art!

What a great breakout! This breakout is full of information and amazing tips on how to take beautiful portraits in different types of light at home. I love D’Ann’s photography. Have been following her for some time now and when I saw the breakout I couldn’t resist to learn from her. I had been guessing how she creates certain images, but now was a chance to learn first hand. And the breakout didn’t disappoint! D’Ann is a great instructor who didn’t hold back any of her secrets. I could’t be happier about the content in this class, so many amazing shooting videos with explanations as well as editing videos, they are priceless! This is a must-have breakout if you love D’Ann’s photos and would like to learn how to do that magic yourself! It is absolutely worth every penny.

Thank you to D’Ann for another amazing breakout! I was wondering whether or not I would learn much from this breakout after having taken the Understanding Light workshop but I definitely learned quite a lot and had other information I learned in Understanding Light reinforced. I loved that she showed us how she edits her images not just using presets and actions. Some of the techniques really blew me away. I am really excited to put all I learned into practice.

I wish I would have bought this breakout sooner! Not only has D’Ann opened my eyes to new locations to shoot in my home, but she has shown me that it is possible to shoot in areas with little light and lots of clutter. I bought this breakout while taking Mastering Manual Exposure and what an AMAZING complement to class! D’Ann was so warm, knowledgeable, and generous with her feedback. I am SO impressed that I am totally convinced to do live breakouts in the future– especially with D’Ann if she ever has another. However, whether or not you were able to do this breakout live, I highly recommend it. Having the room exercises organized by D’Ann is so helpful! I think my big thing is I love, absolutely LOVE your images. your out of camera is amazing and the warm paintery (new word) feel as well as the magic you put in post is amazing! I took this class to see how you do that . I only work in Lightroom (other than adding watermarks or head swaps in photo shop) so seeing all you do in Lightroom that I didn’t know about blew my mind, the gradient the masking that I didn’t know, I need to keep replaying. I haven’t touched the photo shop side of your edits but hav added the gradients of light to dark and dark to light and see a huge difference already.
My goal before was to just be clean, tact sharp and correct color to the real moments I try to capture between the posed shots the family books me for, but you got me balancing on beds, desks, bathtub edges, and since I am trying to learn studio lighting- as I natural light photographer I felt like I was giving up, but seeing that you use it as well gives me more self confidence in learning and creating and improving. thank you!

I was delighted with the awesome content. I have LOVED every minute and learned SO much! I primarily shoot families and senior portraits but wanted to expand my skill set. I was drawn to the breakout by your images. They are full of wonderful moody shadows and depth. Also the editing videos were such a treat.
