Frequently Asked Questions
about Click Photo School
How do Click Photo School classes work?
Click Photo School offers a 100% online classroom experience for both our workshops and breakout sessions (more details on the difference between them in the next section!). Once you sign up, you have access to a virtual classroom that is open 24 hours a day for a specified period so that you can progress through the materials and join in discussions on your own schedule.
All class materials can also be downloaded or saved to your hard drive for your personal reference, including PDFs, videos, critiques, and any additional content you may wish to copy from classroom discussions.
What's the difference between a workshop and a breakout session?
Click Photo School workshops are multi-week, interactive classroom experiences. Each week students receive a set of course materials (so, if you are taking a four week course you will receive four sets of materials), which generally include a PDF and video instruction. Throughout the week, instructors are present in the virtual classroom every day to answer questions and offer encouragement. Students receive an assignment each week that pertains to the topics covered in the course materials and class discussion throughout the week. Full participation students receive instructor feedback on every assignment and personalized guidance to acquire the covered skills. Workshop classrooms are open for eight weeks from the start date, although the materials are yours to keep forever.
Breakouts, on the other hand, consist of one set of materials. In the Breakout’s virtual classroom, participants can start discussions, share photographs, and interact with other Breakout participants. Occasionally, the Breakout presenter will also join in the discussions as well, although interaction between participants and presenters is limited. Breakout forums are open for one to two weeks, although the materials are downloadable and yours to keep forever.
I'd love to gift a class to a friend! Do you offer gift certificates?
We do! You can purchase a Click Photo School gift voucher here.
Help! I've registered, but I don't know where to find my class.
You can see all of your current and upcoming workshops by clicking MY CLASSES in the menu bar above (or just click right here to log in and access your workshops!).
Is a membership required to take Click Photo School classes?
Nope! No membership is required to participate in our programming. All Click Photo School workshops and Breakouts are open to everyone!
I don’t live in the United States. Can I still join?
Absolutely! While we are a US-based company, our members are located all across the globe, and our on-demand virtual classrooms make it easy to participate no matter where in the world you’re located.
I changed my mind and want to switch into a different class. Can I transfer or trade seats with a friend?
Sorry! Registration is nontransferable, nonrefundable, and valid only for the specific Click Photo School program(s) that you signed up for.
Do you offer closed captioning?
Click Photo School wants to make sure that all students have equal access to our programming and is here to assist in the process. Please complete this Closed Caption Request Form for each course for which you are registered (or for which you plan to register). All captioning requests should be submitted at least two weeks in advance when possible.
If you have a request for captioning that is unrelated to accommodations, please submit a standard support ticket to email@example.com.
How do Click Photo School Workshops work?
Click Photo School workshops are a 100% online classroom experience. Once you register, you have access to a workshop classroom that is open 24 hours a day so that you can learn and join discussions on your own schedule.
A new set of course materials (typically a combination of videos and written lessons) is provided each week, and all class content is organized into simple steps as part of a clear, self-guided pathway so that you can check off each interactive step as you go.
Over the duration of the workshop, you can chat and share photos with your fellow students, and instructors are present in your classroom every day to offer encouragement and answer questions. Students will also complete an assignment each week that pertains to the content they’ve studied.
What is the difference between a Full Participation seat and a Study Along seat?
Full Participation students engage in an interactive online classroom experience that includes instructor-led group discussions and detailed, personalized guidance for the duration of the workshop. Full participation students post their assignments in the forum and receive instructor critiques each week.
Study Along students have access to all materials and are able to view all content, conversation, and critiques in the main workshop classroom. Study along students will not be able to ask the instructor questions or request instructor feedback on their individual assignments.
Whether you are a Full Participation student or a Study Along student, the course materials are yours to download and keep.
Do I have to be online at a certain time of day?
Our workshops are set up so that you can participate when it’s convenient for you. You’ll download the course materials each week– you can read through them (or watch) at your leisure. You’ll have 24 hour access to the forum, so you can post your questions and photographs at any time of day and then check back for the instructor’s answers. If you are a full participation student, you’ll post weekly assignments for instructor feedback.
How long will I have access to the workshop?
You’ll have access to your workshop’s virtual classroom for eight weeks from the start of the class. Don’t forget to download everything you need prior to that date.
I'm new to this and I'd like to take a workshop. Where do I start?
If you are completely new to photography/your camera, then Camera Basics is a great place to start! If you have been using your camera for a while but just want to improve your photography, then we suggest:
If you are a bit farther along and want to explore composition, editing, business – or just want to browse more options, check out our workshop catalog here!
And if you have questions or would like more advice about where to start, we’d be happy to help you decide. Shoot us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The workshop I'd like to take starts in a few months. When can I sign up?
Sign up for our mailing list (it’s in the footer!) to get notified when registration opens each month (you’ll also be the first to know about new classes and special offers).
We also offer a early registration benefit exclusively to Clickin Moms Lifetime Members; as a Lifetime Member, you can register four days earlier (on the preceding Thursday!).
How long will I have access to the workshop materials?
A personal copy of the workshop materials, including PDFs, videos, critiques, and any other content you may wish to copy from the workshop classroom, is yours to keep indefinitely. You will have access to the workshop forum for eight weeks from the start date, so be sure to download whatever you may need during that time.
How do breakout sessions work?
Click Photo School Breakouts consist of a set of educational material that generally includes a PDF and a set of videos, although you can find the specifics of exactly what’s included in each breakout’s program description.
Once you register, you will have access to a virtual classroom just for your breakout. All class content is organized into simple steps as part of a clear, self-guided pathway inside your private online classroom, and you’ll check off each interactive step as you go. You can participate in discussions, share photographs, and interact with other Breakout participants inside your classroom.
You’ll also be able to submit questions for the presenter. The presenter will choose from a selection of participant-submitted questions when she puts together her Question and Answer video near the end of the session.
In addition, all Breakout content (including the Q&A video) is downloadable, so you can keep a personal copy of the materials to review or refer to again any time.
Is the Breakout a live event? Do I have to be online at a certain time of day?
Our Breakouts are set up so that you can go read through the materials when it’s convenient for you, and you’ll have 24 hour access to the Breakout classroom through its end date (classrooms are typically open for 2-3 weeks). During this time, you can post your questions and photographs at any time of day for discussion with your peers, plus download a copy of the materials to keep forever so that you can review any time.
The Breakout opened a few days ago. If I sign up now can I catch up?
You haven’t missed a thing! As soon as you sign up you’ll get instant access to the Breakout materials. You may find that other Breakout participants are posting questions and photographs in the Breakout classroom, and you can jump right into conversations, progress through the breakout content during the classroom period, as well as download a personal copy of everything to study or review on your own afterwards.
