Rebecca Congleton

Rebecca, a former journalist and musician, picked up a camera at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic and has barely put it down since. Through a playful, curious approach, she explores the world with wide-eyed wonder and a light heart. She is a Click Pro Elite Photographer and a 2022 Voice Best in Category Winner. When she must be serious and “work” to buy things like food and shelter, she happily shoots weddings in her current hometown of Augusta, Georgia. She is married and has two young adult children. The beach is her happy place.

  1. I have been a long time fan of Rebecca’s work so as soon as I heard about her self paced course, I was quick to sign up! As someone who often “creates” her environment, Rebecca really pushed me to look for the environment that is already around me. Her exercises are so helpful and now that the weather is getting warmer, I’m excited to venture out into the wild and find my own main characters to feature in my work. 12/10 recommend this course!

  2. I’ve been following Rebecca’s work for the past couple of years, and she is one of my absolute favourites. After watching her videos and reading her full course book I realized that her unmistakable shooting and editing style is entirely an extension of her fabulous personality and spirit. It’s a privilege to learn about her thought process and how she goes about turning ordinary and mundane moments into magic.

This course is a breath of fresh air for my perfectionist soul. Thank you for the reminder that the broken, wilted, and imperfect things (and people!) in life are also worth capturing and celebrating. I’m ridiculously excited to take the time to capture the “beautifully real” in my life. (Note to self: Remember to wear pink and/or turquoise if you ever have the chance to meet Rebecca.)

  3. This course is amazing and was released just in time for the upcoming winter months where I get stuck in a rut. You will learn to get outside your comfort zone, find beauty just about any where, learn about the impact of color, and learn about street photography – with and without people. Loved this course!

  4. If you are looking for inspiration, this course is for you! Rebecca has created an excellent self-paced course with great information to get you out of your comfort zone. I am excited to try some of her techniques and suggestions.

  5. I loved this self paced course!!! Rebecca’s work is so colorful so I just HAD to take it and she did not disappoint. There is so much information about how to push oneself creatively. I love the editing videos and the various exercises there are. I absolutely love when a teacher gives practical exercises to practice the content, and Rebecca gives so many!! I highly recommend this course for anyone wanting to push themselves creatively.

  6. This course is wonderful! IT is equal parts inspiring and educational. I was almost instantly driven to pick up. my camera once I started reading the PDF. Thank you Rebecca for sharing your perspective on phtoography!

  7. I have been a biiiiiiig fan of Rebecca’s work. The way Rebecca sees the world is absolutely amazing. My favorite way to learn is to get to see how other artists’ brain works during the process. Rebecca did a fantastic job breaking down her thought process with practical exercises. I am so excited to go apply what I have learned from this class!

  8. If you are in a rut, looking for something new to capture, or wanting to add a spark to your images, this course is amazing for you! Rebecca walks you through how to find magic in the mundane. Her easy-to-follow exercises will have you eager to go out into the world with your camera, looking for and capturing the color and joy that exists all around you.

  9. I am so glad I signed up for this course! One of the emails advertised it as wanting to pick up your camera right away and keep shooting (paraphrased, lol) and that is exactly right! I am seeing so many things to photograph, and I love having “permission” to go about this my way – which is without people right now. I’m only halfway through this course, but Rebecca is such a fun teacher, that I can’t wait to venture out to see what more I can do!

It’s funny that this “validates” some of the photos that I have taken in the past, that now I can go back to and start my own quirky collection.

    Thanks Rebecca!

  10. I’m a big believer in finding beauty in our everyday lives because our lives are not often made up of big events like weddings and beach trips. Our lives are mostly made up of things we do and see habitually. These are the things we would be sad to lose. Luckily, Rebecca is here to help us find and capture the beauty in the habitual. If discovering the overlooked beauty in your life is what you want, then this course is for you.

  11. I was drawn to take this course because of all the colours and humour I saw in Rebecca’s photos. Although her style is very different then mine, this course has inspired me to pick up my camera after a lull I’ve been experiencing the last few months. The PDF and shooting videos are full of tips and tricks to help you see your everyday in a new way. She also encourages you to step outside of your comfort zone and dable in street photography. Her joy and creativity are palpable. I love her confident and colourful approach!

  12. This course is fabulous! Rebecca shares so much about seeing the extraordinary in the ordinary. The videos are so helpful in seeing her thought process in finding a subject. I especially love the beach video as she shows how she captures people covertly or how she approaches people to ask for a photo.

  13. Rebecca has made such a delightful course for those looking to reignite their creativity. The exercises she gives in this course have challenged me to push myself and see the stories of life in a fresh way.She did a wonderful job explaining her thought process in the behind the scenes videos, making her process feel copyable. And her 15 minute photo challenge is genius for keeping daily photos manageable!

  14. I am really enjoying this course, and it’s given me new things to look for in my everyday to capture….
Her focus is relatable, joyful, and quick – nothing requires intense setup or staging… just looking around and noticing things, backdrops, shapes, and colors that are already there. The main character energy section is really fun too – how to find magnetic and exuberant people to photograph in street photography. I’m loving it!

  15. If you’re looking for a course to get you thinking outside your photographic box, this one’s for you! I’m not even halfway through, and I’m loving Rebecca’s amazing lessons, videos and exercises that are inspiring me to think differently about shooting my everyday surroundings. Her lessons are succinct and full of valuable information that I’ll carry with me into my photographic practice. Her videos are easy to watch and listen to, and I love how she discusses the elements in the scene that caught her eye. Another thing I love is her lesson about color and curating our own inspirational color palette – I’ve never done this before, so fun! I’m really enjoying this course and excited to move on to the next lesson!

  16. LOVE this course! Rebecca’s shooting videos discussing what she looks for in her home (a seemingly mundane place) and a regular old street (a seemingly mundane place) are really inspirational. Seemingly mundane places hold so much potential! I also love Rebecca’s tips on storytelling and, especially, street photography—and taking photos of people (something that has always intimidated me). I’m printing out all the exercises and “cheat sheets!” This course is pure JOY!

  17. My kids are at that age when they don’t really want to be in front of the camera, and even though I miss shooting, it’s been hard to feel excited about other subjects. The truth is I’ve felt kind of lost and thought maybe photography would just become on of those hobbies I used to do. I wasn’t sure there was much here for me, but I love Rebecca’s work and figured that even if it made me wake up ONE day really wanting to pick up my camera again, it would be worth it. I wasn’t prepared to be moved so much both creatively and emotionally. Rbecca really helped me redefine what is worth shooting, and what makes a good subject, and I’ve found that my world is full of them. I remember when I first got my camera how I’d want to shoot EVERYTHING, and I didn’t really believe that’s something I would ever feel again, but I’m back in that place where I almost can’t stop (and I actually nkow what I’m doing with my camera this time). That is pretty much the best feeling in the world, and I did not realize how much I had missed it. We all deserve to fall in love with photography again like this. 11/10 recommend this one.

Jenni, your honest words mean so much. Thank you for sharing your experience. I am so thankful I have been able to help you see your world with fresh eyes! Keep shooting!!!

  18. I’m so excited for this course. I haven’t even finished lesson one, and Rebecca’s unique approach has already inspired to me to pick up my camera, and see all the everyday wonderful that is around me.
