I loved the step by step nature of this course as Kim takes you through her entire process, from how she interacts with families during the session, to how she edits and produces galleries. My favorite video was when she did the session with teens – it can be hard to find courses that address working with teens and it was great to read her tips in the PDF, but also see her live during a session. This is a great course for anyone looking for tips on how to handle a family session, particularly how to make them more fun for everyone involved!
Hi Krista, I’m so happy to hear you loved the course and found the steps and videos helpful! I think oftentimes we can get so focused on the process and forget to have fun with it! Also, thanks for your feedback about the video with teens – that’s great to know!
Hi. I for very busy after I signed up for the course and wasn’t able to attend or watch any of the course work. I hope I can still go through the course. By reading the comments , it sounds fabulous.
Hi Lelly! We’ve been there – this is a busy time of year for sure. Although the launch event has concluded, you can access the online classroom and all materials for a minimum of a year, so you have plenty of time to continue working through the course content at your own pace — and Kim will be posting a new Q&A video in the next week or so as well. Everything’s also available to download to your own device if you wish. We know you’ll enjoy it once life calms down for you a bit!
I am an engaged hobbyist looking to improve the ‘feel’ of my photos, learn more about editing to save time and have a certain consistency, add structure to my shooting time and add fresh new ideas for creating the right mood for my subjects. Kim you really hit it all! I’ve gone thru the course once and am now circling back around to get it all again. Fast paced with patience and sweetness yet all under control! Really , no cap! Fire for sure
Hi Deborah! I’m so thrilled you loved the course!! Thanks so much for your review!
I have been a family photographer for over a decade now. I find that it is easy to get in to a bit of a rut with sessions, falling back on the same things over and over again. I enjoy taking courses that help me deconstruct my typical approach and try new things, and that is what this course has done for me. I’m excited to put Kim’s 6-step plan to work at my next session and have been brainstorming ways to help bring out more of the fun experience for my clients. Kim has done such a beautiful job putting this course together, from the beautiful PDFs to the videos infused with her personality. If you are looking for a course to help you capture the genuine, lighthearted moments in your sessions, I can’t recommend this one enough!
Hi Christina! Thanks so much for your review!! I’m so happy you love the materials! Please let me know how this helps with your upcoming fall sessions!
This course is EXACTLY what I need at this time! Due to a major surgery and schedule burn out I have not booked many family sessions over the past four years. Kim’s course is exactly what I need to brush up on my skills and fall in love with what got me started in photography all those many years ago. Kim has an easy-to-follow and laid-back style of teaching. I’ve only had the chance to watch a couple of BTS videos but already know that I’m going to learn much more. Her 6-step action plan is brilliant, and what I love most (so far) are her ice-breakers — they’re clever, funny, candid, and FUN! Thank you in advance for giving me a reason to return to this wonderful genre of photography. You rock, Kim, and are amazing at what you do.
Thanks so much for your review, Dawn!! I hope you find this helpful as you return to family photography!
I love a good plan! As I look toward reopening my business after a long hiatus, Kim’s Funtographer experience is the perfect tool for helping me step back in with confidence. Kim has a great teaching and presenting style (fun, of course!). The PDFs and videos are chockfull of actionable tips and tricks that I can’t wait to try with my clients. I absolutely recommend this course for anyone with or planning to start a family portrait business.
I’m so happy to hear you loved the course!! Thanks so much for writing a review!
I am in love with this class! I feel like I have learned so much! The class is so easy to follow from inquiry to delivered set. I have had a business for some years, but feel like I still learned alot from Kim when it comes to making my business smoother and easier while aslso providing a wonderful experience for the families. It is obvious that Kim has a lot of experinece when it comes to creating magical images aswell as making the clients feel at ease and at home. This is so important and I love all the tips and tricks that Kim share to make people feel happy and have fun. I am certain that that is what makes people come back. I also loved watching the behind the scenes; to see her interact and talk with her clients gave me many aha-moments. Also the culling videos. So good. I love Kims approach. I very much recommend this class, both for beginners and more seasoned photographers.
Hi Jenny! Thanks so much for your review and feedback about the course! I’m thrilled you found it helpful!
I highly recommend this course for anyone who does family sessions! It’s so comprehensive, it feels like a private mentorship. I have always admired Kim’s talent for creative and joyful family photography, and was so excited to take this course! Kim takes you behind the scenes to see exactly how she works with REAL families and deals with REAL issues that can happen during a session. From shy toddlers to uninterested teenagers, Kim demonstrates how to take charge and control the energy of a session. In addition, she breaks down her workflow from the client inquiry to the final sale (and everything in between) and shares all her secrets on how to connect with kids and parents. The 3 behind-the-scenes videos make you feel like you are on location with Kim learning from her as she interacts with her clients. Then you get to see her entire gallery from each session as she recaps and critiques the session! It is rare to see entire galleries from a photographer of this caliber. There is a plethora of materials and tools for all learning types and all levels. Photographers new to family photography will be more confident stepping into this genre and seasoned photographers will come away inspired and excited for their busy seasons!
Hi Alice! Wow, what a thoughtful review, thank you so much! I’m so happy to hear your found a lot of key takeaways as an experienced photographer!
Kim’s class is pure GOLD! I’m a super fan of Kim’s work and was thrilled to learn more about her creative process. Her photos are infused with joy, light and happiness. We all want that for our clients! She clearly explains her workflow for before, during and after the shoot and provides printable PDFs to use as reference sheets. I learned so many ways that I can improve my booking process and communication with my clients. I realized there is no such thing as too much communication before the shoot! My favorite part was learning her tips and tricks for making the session fun (I’m ordering a puppet today similar to Gus the gorilla)! Kim provides specific ideas for ice breakers and team building. I’m for sure going to use the “lean” and the “see saw” at my next shoot. She has tips for babies, small children and teenagers and videos for all three age groups. Kim teaches about bringing energy to the session and ways to control the ebb and flow of excitement. I found this particularly helpful. The class includes trouble shooting ideas for when things go wrong. Her strategies are relaxed and down to earth and you can see why her clients love her and her work. Her lessons and PDFs are clear and easy to follow and I loved seeing her work throughout. Her double exposure images are out of this world gorgeous. This class was fantastic! I know I will be returning to these materials again and again. Highly recommend!
Thanks so much, Hilary!! I’m so glad you learned several takeaways that you can use in your photography and business moving forward!
I’m busy so I don’t sign up for classes unless I really think they will be worth my time, and I was interested to see what was in Kim’s 6 step process. This was my first Click class and it was definitely worth it. It didn’t take me too long to get through, and there was a lot of info I was able to use right away including clever tips I haven’t heard before. I have a family session this week and already started using parts of the workflow with my client.
Yay Katie!! I can’t wait to hear how you implement what you’ve learned when photographing your upcoming sessions! Thanks for the feedback!
Absolutely adored it! As a seasoned photographer with years of experience, there’s nothing quite like that feeling of being filled with inspiration and excitement to infuse fresh ideas into my work. Kim’s beautiful, imaginative, and creative portfolio has always commanded my admiration. Above all, it’s the sense of pure delight that has consistently captivated me… and now, gaining a glimpse into her creative process makes me admire her even more! This course not only offers ingenious tips (I’m definitely integrating the “generational” quiz into my family sessions with tweens and teens!), but also presents an array of invaluable workflow suggestions (especially ideas for what to do when things go WRONG!). Even photographers well-versed in their craft will discover new and helpful techniques to seamlessly incorporate into their sessions—from preparation to execution and follow-through. This course has so many great videos, meticulously detailing each step of Kim’s artistic process. It’s yet another avenue to intimately observe how she navigates through an entire session from the moment of contact through the final completion. I have some family sessions coming up, and you better believe that I will be working through the session with a whole new set of fresh eyes!
Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review, Cicely! It’s so encouraging to get this kind of feedback from such an experienced photographer!
What a fantastic course!! Kim’s photography alone is a huge inspiration, but the beautifully designed, jam-packed PDFs are informative, easy to reference, and take you easily from inquiry to delivery and beyond! It’s obvious to me that Kim loves what she does and has found a way to make the experience joyful for the families she works with and for herself. The videos take you through every process of the session, editing, gallery and slideshow design for several different kinds of families with kids of all ages. This course would be just incredible to have as a photographer just starting out with families, but even as someone who has done family sessions for over a decade, there was SO much to learn! I got plenty of new ideas and strategies–posing and session tips, sure, but even more so on how to set expectations, create a workflow, and deliver these photos in a thoughtful and beautiful way. Her PDFs can easily be printed as cheat sheets to reference before each session, and I can see coming back to this material for a refresher over and over. If you’re a family photographer, or want to be one, jump in on this great course! You won’t be disappointed.
Cami, thank you so much for the thoughtful review! I’m a big fan of your work so this made my day. Glad you got some nuggets of info from the course!
