I waited much too long to take this class! No matter where you are in your photography journey, I would encourage you to jump into the numbers with both feet! I was spinning my wheels for over a year trying to figure out my selling model and pricing to see if I could make a go of it. Jen helped me accomplish more in two weeks then I ever could have on my own. Her lesson plans are so beautifully laid out, each building on the other with everything at your disposal to learn at your own pace. This is the third class I have taken with Jen and I cannot say enough good things about her teaching style and her materials. Jen works you hard but in the two weeks you have with her you are provided with so much information and she is available everyday to answer all of your questions. I am hoping to open up my business this year and knew I had to take this course before even starting, especially after taking Jen's business course. I'm in the middle of this course and had to write a review before even finishing the material. I took Jen's "What Lies Within" workshop in the fall and now TPP. I don't even have the words to say how kind, present, and giving Jen is and what a fantastic teacher. The depth of her information and the way she freely shares all her experiences is amazing.

I am a little over a year into my photography business and before now, I have just been "winging it" (and hemorrhaging money while I was at it). Let me start by saying that Jen is a fantastic teacher. Jen takes you on an intense and incredible journey through your whys and hows and helps you to figure out what you should be charging without guesswork. Starting a business is extremely intimidating and I didn't know the first thing about doing this so when I saw this workshop come up (as well as Business From the Ground Up) I knew I had to take them both! This class is totally re-setting how I think about business and pricing structure. I worried and worried and worried for the longest time about how to do the numbers and what meant what, and Jen has been a GAME CHANGER. I almost didn't take her first class (I signed up a day after it started!) but once I had taken that, there was no way I was going back! The Profitable Photographer is the TWO in the One-Two punch that is Jen's business workshops. I was already in business but wasn't totally comfortable with my pricing structure (I just made myself comparable to other photogs in my area. Sound familiar?) and this class forced me to sit down and figure out how long I actually worked on a session, where my spending was going, and how to make the latter less than the former. This would not only ensure I was PROFITABLE but also make sure I didn't feel guilty about what I was charging (again, sound familiar?)

As with her other class, Business from the Ground Up, Jen is completely available and active on the TPP message board (if you've seen her bajillion helpful tutorials on the Clickin' Moms forums, she's her same amazing self in the workshop, but it's more personalized). The daily homework assignments and Google worksheet keep you on track and the weekly in-person Zoom call brings it all together (feel free to bring ice-cream or wine!) Honestly, the tax information is worth the class itself!

I don't even take lifestyle photography and I'm planning on taking Jen's other workshop, What Lies Beneath because I know I'm going to learn a ton of new things that will help with my portraits and headshots. Yeah, she's that good. In fact, that would be my only warning—if you take a JB class, be prepared to take all three of her workshops. She's THAT good.

This has been such an eye opening course. I wish I would have started this workshop when I first got started in business. It would have saved me SO much time/money when it came to figuring out who my ideal client is, what an appropriate investment is for my business, and how to really put my name out there and start shooting the stuff I want to shoot. I was worried that there would be so much information that I would get overwhelmed, and not take action. While there is a TON of information, it is presented in a way that makes it easy enough for ANYONE to implement (no matter how long you have been in business). Since clarifying my vision, and setting prices that cover my expenses and allow me to be profitable, I've had more leads in the past week than I have in the past 6 months! I am finishing up Jen Bilideou's Profitable Photographer as a full participation student and...WOW. This is one of those workshops at CM that truly stands apart. Of course what sets the best workshops apart from others is the instructor and how invested they are in the daily forum and their students. Jen is a daily presence. She posts daily exercises to go along with the material, so it is all broken down in a way to understand and apply to my business. This is an intensive workshop that makes you look at yourself as what kind of photographer you are and what sets you apart from others. Then apply that to what you will offer your clients. You will look at what your costs are, what you want to earn and through her price calculator you come up with sustainable ways to do business.

You GUYS. One of the best classes yet- and I've taken a lot! This is so jam-packed with information that it's worth clearing a good chunk of time on your calendar because you'll want to dedicate a couple hours a day to the material. If you feel like you're struggling with understanding how to price your work and how to create packages that make sense for your business, this class is for you. For most of us, the business side of photography isn't nearly as enticing as the shooting side, but Jen actually makes it interesting and helps break it down in a simple, piece-by-piece way so that you can move from one stage to the next without getting lost in it all.
