  1. This is such a great course for beginners, but also if you’re looking to brush up on your current filmmaking skills. There is a lot of detail and great tips for all aspects of the process. I highly recommend this course to learn new skills (and brush up on ones you have already).

  2. I have only started the course and can tell you I have already learned so much. I can only expect to learn so much more. This was an awesome investment for me and I am sure it would be for you to if you have any interest in learning video its a MUST buy!!!! Very satisfied!!!

    1. Misty, thank you so much for this kind review! I am so glad you feel it was a great investment and I hope it continues to inspire you along your filmmaking journey!

  3. I just started this course last night, and I can already tell it is going to be just what I need to jump into filmmaking. Lisa shares lots of information, but it’s not so much that it’s overwhelming. And I love that she tells you exactly what gear she has found works best for family films.
When I first signed up for the course, I introduced myself and posted a question for Lisa (about the best lenses for family filmmaking), and she responded within hours. I’m looking forward to learning more from Lisa in the days and weeks to come!

    1. Jennie, I am so glad you’re enjoying it and finding it is helpful right where you’re at. I hope it continues to inspire you and help you along your filmmaking journey!

  4. Although I haven’t had time to go through the whole course yet I felt very welcome and the material is very accessible. It is nice to know my place to go for family film making!

  5. I’ve been making films of my own family for years and am going to start including video as an option with my photo sessions, so I’m finding this course to be very helpful. I love the exercises Lisa presents. Not only is the knowledge so important, but it’s the action of practice that makes us better! I’m very grateful. I also love that she’s teaching us in DaVinci Resolve! Thank you, Lisa!

  6. This course is so easy to understand and adapt to. This is a big learning curve, made very easy by the way Lisa has broken down and explained each and every category of film making. From planning to execution and post processing this is a one stop shop for it all.
Lisa is also very helpful answering all my questions in detail and very prompt.
Thank you so much Lisa for a truly inspiring and insightful course.

    1. Thank you so much for this kind review, Sejal! I am so happy you’ve enjoyed it and have found it helpful. You have been such a pleasure to have over in the classroom!

  7. This course gives you the tools, the techniques, and the confidence to tell family stories (and any stories) on film. The lessons are meaty but digestible, making complex filmmaking concepts feel approachable. The skill-building suggestions are like little assignments, and I feel like I can use them over and over to practice different aspects of filmmaking even as I grow. Lisa’s fun to watch, almost like having friend guide you through filming. I really enjoyed this.

    1. Thank you so much for this beautiful review! I’m so happy you found it helpful and digestible at the same time. Your ‘watching a friend’ comment made my day. Thank you!

  8. I’ve always been focused on my photography and never really gave filmmaking a real thought. Signing up felt like a risk, but I’m in a place where I felt like I really needed to try something new. I can’t overstate how much I got out of this. The lessons and demos were easy to follow and broke things down really clearly. You just have to dive in and do it. I watched/read the whole course and then gave myself an afternoon to start making my first real video using the cheat sheets, and I LOVED the process. This is exactly what I needed right now. Thank you, Lisa!!

    1. Thank you so much for this review, Amy! It makes my heart so happy to hear it equipped you to start creating right away and that you found the information helpful!
      Happy filmmaking!

  9. This course is so perfectly structured! I truly believe that anyone who follows the lessons step by step will have a wonderful family film by the end of the lessons. Lisa has created such perfect skill building lessons as well as providing all the basics necessary to take you through the entire process of creating a film. I have worked on a few films in the past (both personal family as well as nature), but I needed a refresher and new inspiration and this course is exactly what I needed! Thank you so much, Lisa!

  10. Wow, this is an amazing course! Lisa was able to break down the entire process into a step by step guide with skill building module at the end of each section. Talk about actionable plans!!!! I am always drawn to film making but all the aspects overwhelms me for sure. Now I feel a lot more confident about taking baby steps to make some great stories. I also love that Lisa included in the class some promotion and business guidance as well. Video has become extremely popular and I am excited to explore ways to incorporate video into my business!

  11. As someone who tends to get overwhelmed by too many details, the way Lisa broke things down was a godsend. The lessons are perfectly paced, with enough detail for me to really get it but also to the point so I didn’t feel like I needed to skip ahead. She covers a lot of ground here, probably more than I’ve seen before since she gets right into it with editing too. That was really really helpful for me because when I have played with video before, I just ended up with a few clips I didn’t really know what to do with. I’ve had clients asking about video, and this really gives me what I need to finally start incorporating it in my sessions. Worth every penny and more.

  12. This course is incredibly detailed and so thought out from start to finish. You can tell Lisa put so much work into this. Even though I have been doing photography for 12 years, film making is so foreign to me and I really enjoy that Lisa breaks everything down from gear, to settings, to audio, to composition, to storytelling, to editing, and how and why she makes the choices she makes. She even breaks things down by budgets because let’s face it, gear is an investment and sometime we need to start small. So I love that those options are suggested. This course is so easy to digest and follow and I love the behind the scenes videos too. It really helps me to visual all the knowledge put into action. I am looking forward to digesting each section and practicing a new skill!! Lisa just has so much knowledge and I love learning from her.

  13. Excited that you’ll be editing with DaVinci Resolve! I’ve been making videos of our family vacations and wanted to upgrade from iMovie but didn’t have the budget for Final Cut Pro or Premier Pro, so I downloaded DaVinci Resolve. I’m going through the beginner tutorials and am loving it so far. Really looking forward to this class!

        1. Hi Dawne – DaVinci Resolve has both a free version and upgraded version, and Lisa provides a workflow that’s fully compatible with the free version (so it’s not necessary to purchase any additional applications!).
