Fantastic class! Sarah has a great teaching style! She is both entertaining and knowledgeable which makes this a really great class to take! I highly recommend Sarah’s class if you are interested in video.
A MUST HAVE class!! Video intimidates me a TON and Sarah does an amazing job at breaking down everything about learning video in really easy steps! I have only begun to get started and cannot wait to learn more and experiment! And who doesn’t want to see and learn more from Sarah who’s videos bring so much joy? It is a steal!
Oh my goodness. Thank you! I am blown away by the group of incredibly talented women who are participating in this and so grateful to you. xxx
Yeah, she is amazing, funny, kind, and talented! The best part is listening to her edit, its like stand up comedy and slow mo voices are the BEST! I have had more fun than anything and I cant believe I waited this long dive into film. She makes it easy to digest and fun! I just love her! You will too.
Thank you so much! I’m glad you didn’t get sick of me by the end. It’s a lot of videos. 🤣 And slow motion voices ARE the best.
Sarah introduces you to filmmaking in a fun, simple, achievable way. I had absolutely no clue what I was doing in terms of video before this, and now I am hooked. Her personality and delivery keeps things light (and funny) and it was nice to hear her thought process as she edited. I never took a lot of videos – ahem, that weren’t on snapchat – before this, and I feel like being able to put together short videos of important events will be such a treasure for my kids some day. (Especially since they won’t have to sit through hours of reel!)
RUN, don’t walk, to purchase this class. I have some experience with filmmaking already – I took a far more expensive filmmaking workshop a few years ago, and I can tell you that this class has everything and MORE than that workshop had. This is a no-brainer if you want to learn how to make films for your family or clients. You will not regret this purchase, and you will treasure the films you will be able to start creating to document your days. Sarah is one of the best of the best at her craft, and she is a fabulous teacher! HIGHLY recommend this class!!
Wow. Thank you SO much! This is lovely to read.
I’m almost done with all the materials, and can I say, I LOVE this class?!? Best one I’ve taken in a long time–shh, don’t tell anyone else that though!
Even though I’m not new to filming/video on my camera, I learned more than I thought I would. A bonus is that Sarah’s fun personality adds so much to the materials! It was a joy to watch and learn from her, and I can’t wait to try out a few new things!
I wholeheartedly recommend this breakout!! The info is broken into easily digested segments and Sarah’s personality makes learning super fun. I came to the breakout with some filmmaking experience already, and am still coming out with gold nuggets of info! Thank you! Thank you!
Awesome Class! Sarah shares so many great tips! I’ve played around with video prior to the course, but it was still very helpful in taking that next step and has really inspired me to keep trying!
This class is incredible ! Definitely part of my top 3 to date ! Sarah is incredible. She is an invaluable source of knowledge, she is talented, had an energetic and fun personality and she is very generous with her time and knowledge. This class is packed with information and hours of videos. There is everything in there: gear, camera settings, types of frames, transitions, stabilization, sound and music, how to prompt and direct your subjects, how to edit, etc.etc. Everything you always wondered about films but never dared to ask is in there. I am so glad I took this. Thank you Sarah !!
Thank you! I am so glad you are enjoying it. And I am obviously loving getting to talk shop with all of you on the forum. It’s awesome!
This course is fantastic!! Not only was it easy to watch (Sarah is funny and entertaining) but they way she broke the information down made it easy to comprehend and enjoyable! This course provides sooo much information for learning video and for such a fantastic price!! Sarah’s work is beautiful and inspiring and in this course she gives away all of those amazing tips!
Thank you so much Angela! I’ve LOVED watching your films and can’t wait to see even more!
First, after watching all the videos I want to be friends with Sarah! We really don’t live that far from each other, it could happen! LOL Seriously though, this class is great for people like me who know nothing about video but has also been a game changer for a bunch of my friends who already knew a lot about video! Sarah gets straight down to business so you can’t get straight into making your own video! So excited for all the memories she has inspired me to capture on video! Thanks Sarah!
Thank YOU! And I’m always looking for some more fun friends
Sarah is a SUPERB instructor. I can’t think of anyone I would rather learn from! Her step by step instructions offer the confidence I need as a total novice. Thank you, thank you, Sarah for sharing your knowledge with us!
Thank YOU Jennifer. Now maybe you can teach me how to shoot a landscape
I’m with Nina. I’m just taking it because of the panel discussion from Click Away! I feel like I’ve cobbled together some video skills over the years and have even taken classes on Premiere Pro, so I have a pretty decent background. But I am curious to see Sarah’s workflow and editing tips. Also, I’ve struggled with slo mo in PP so I’m hoping she walks us through that.
Thank so much Amanda! I can’t wait to hear what you think! And incorporating slow mo is one of my favorite things to do!
This class has been GREAT!
LOVE Sarah’s personality! This is my second self-paced class and it has been fantastic! Hope to see more of her around here!!!
I’d like to buy this to not only to learn video, but for the pure entertainment that Sarah will bring. However, I do not want to commit to subscribing monthly to premire pro, is there anything else that we could use to edit that we can purchase one time?
Hi Kelli! I definitely understand not wanting to jump in to a monthly subscription to Premiere.
I would recommend the free one week trial of Premiere just to play around and then by all means, you can take that editing knowledge and apply it in any program that suits you. I’ve seen awesome films edited with iMovie! It’s not about the software. It’s about the story!
I didn’t want a subscription either so I went with Final Cut Pro. DaVinci Resolve is another option. You may have to watch a few YouTube videos to figure it out but mostly the editors will do the same thing. Don’t let Premiere Pro stop you from taking the breakout/learning video! There are definitely ways to get around that.
Hands down one of THE best classes I’ve ever taken (and I have folders full lol). Incredibly informative, the materials and delivery are super enjoyable and easy to digest. Took the class and was able to put together a film that was halfway decent ;)
If you have any interest in learning video (which you should) Sarah is without a doubt the best person to learn it from. Not only is she hysterical (which who doesn’t love a teacher that makes it fun right?) but she does such a great job explaining things so they are easy to understand no matter your level. I first learned video from her at her Click Away class and have made so many videos for both clients and personal since. Those personal videos are a treasure and I can’t imagine not having them to show my kids. They literally ask to watch them before bed every single night. That alone was SO worth learning video. I can only image how much I will treasure them one day. And this is all thanks to Sarah. Now with this Breakout I can brush up on stuff I already learned and have the videos to rewatch which is gold. And I get so many new nuggets of awesome info to take my videos to the next level. Highly recommend this! Sarah is a genius and the most willing-to-share-her-knowledge-with-others person I have ever met.
Full disclosure – I LOVE TENLEY CLARK and while I didn’t pay her to say all these nice things, I certainly would have because it’s so sweet to read. I love you for taking the time to write this. For always supporting and championing you friends and for making kick butt videos (and all around amazing content). I love you and everything you create!
Sarah is SO much fun! Loved this class! Such a great teacher!
You want to buy this Class for many reasons…
1. You will finish the course confident to begin making beautiful family films for your family or for your lucky clients.
2. Learning a new medium as an artist builds confidence and ignites your creativity.
3. If film scares you….then you need to jump in and just do it!
4. Sarah delivers the information with a perfect mix of humour, relatability, confidence and knowledge. You are going to learn a lot and you are going to have fun doing it.
Lastly….If you follow Sarah, or have had the pleasure of meeting her in person you will know that she is as hilarious as she is talented and watching and reading this breakout is like the perfect hangout with her.
Stop it. You are making me blush. I adore you. Thank you!
This looks amazing! Would the course information work with iMovie? I don’t have Premier Pro.
All the editing I do is in premiere but most of the main principals transfer to final cut and other software. iMovie will be more limited in what it offers but the ideas behind the edit work regardless
OMG this class is amazing !!! Sarah really knows a lot and shares alot. Great videos and so many!!! and a pdf. I am a novice and I know I have a lot to learn and practice and try and this breakout is getting me started . I am a grandma with a camera ( sony ) and will be making lots of family videos to share with my kids. They love them
Sarah is such a complete joy! Her bubbly and dynamic personality makes her so incredibly engaging as a teacher, which in turn makes the learning an infinitely more enjoyable and easier process! This breakout was an emergency purchase as I agreed to record the children’s outdoor school nativity in lieu of parents being able to watch live. Talk about pressure! Thanks Covid. I went from knowing Zero, to being a playground Hero! I’m not quite ready to take on Hollywood but I had one Mum turn up on my doorstep with tears of gratitude, and so many messages of thanks. The thanks honestly goes to Sarah though!! Whilst the need wasn’t directly mine, the reward certainly has been! I encourage any photographer to take this course and use the record button on their camera. I’m looking forward to putting together clips of our Christmas Day, and many more special moments to come. Photos are incredible, but videos… they really touch your heart!! Thank you Sarah for making this door one I could actually open!! Camilla
Highly recommend Sarah’s class. She delivers it perfectly and walks through every step! Easy to listen too with lots of giggles too! I have done a bunch of classes and I think this is my fave to date. Thank you Sarah, really appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us all!
This class is amazing! I learned so much just in the first few minute of watching the first video! This is everything I hoped it would be and more!
This class is a MUST HAVE, whether you’re brand new to shooting video or not. I went into it familiar with video, but overwhelmed with the editing process (so I just avoided shooting!). From start to finish, Sarah gives a solid educational AND inspirational experience. I feel more confident planning out ideas, executing them, and putting it all together for a finished product. Sarah breaks down a full edit in Premiere Pro in a way that streamlines the process and makes the program seem so manageable. The amount of content that you get here is a steal!
Here’s a link to a video I created after the breakout, which just so happens to be my favorite I’ve EVER done!
https://vimeo.com/405160076/7f9d9f8ed6
FUN and FABULOUS!!!! If you want to learn video and laugh out loud this is the breakout for you. I truly learned so much from Sarah. This is a terrific breakout!
THIS is what I have needed in my life! I have been saying to myself, for literally a few years now, “I have GOT to learn how to do video”, but it was so intimidating and I just felt overwhelmed at learning ‘a whole new thing’. You guys – Sarah makes it SO FUN and so simple and is such an amazing resource for all things video. The creative process along with planning out what and how to shoot it is so exciting! – and then there’s the magic of editing! From setting up your camera to Premiere Pro (which is an absolutely amazing editing program and tool – your welcome Adobe) Sarah walks you through it all step by step AND gives you a front row seat to a family shoot and editing sessions to give you all the information and examples you need to get through shooting, putting together and editing your own clips, including how to add music to make you and/or your client’s memories and moments come to life! If you can’t tell, I am beyond thrilled and cannot recommend this breakout more highly. Millions of thanks to Sarah for such an informational, fun and hilarious couple of weeks!
Millions of thanks to YOU for taking part and being so active in the community. I loved your cookie films! Can’t wait for more Amy!
Let’s not lie, Premiere Pro, is SCARY! Curating a film, is SCARY…. until now. Sarah’s attitude is so fun, upbeat, and lighthearted. She is super informative and takes the fear of learning everything away. Within three days of starting her class I made two videos about our quarantine (homeschooling, busy activities, etc..) with music, audio clips, speed ramping, and editing!!! Sarah is a gem and also, why wouldn’t you want to learn film?
Yay! I love reading this almost as much as I’ve loved seeing all the incredible films people have been creating. It is AMAZING! Thank you for the kind words. I’m so happy you are loving the breakout!
I’d love to purchase, but do I need a particular camera body? I shoot with a Canon 6D.
As long as you camera has video capabilities, then you are good to go! Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Sony, we are all in this together!
So excited about this class! I want to dive in, BUT I’m scared about the investment of Premier Pro. Is there another application out there? I’m just afraid now isn’t the time for the additional $20.99/mo :( :( :( :( :(
While I do all my teaching on premiere, there are plenty of people using iMovie or other more affordable editing software. You can apply the editing basics in any program! Premiere just happens to be what I use so, zero pressure to use Premiere!
Sarah’s class is the sunshine I needed in my life during this time! I have wanted to make a film FOREVER and Sarah finally gave me the confidence I needed. Sarah is kind, she’s patient and best of all she’s FUNNY!!! This breakout is worth every dollar and 100 times more! If you’ve been wanting to make a film NOW is the time!
I have been devouring Sarah’s breakout on filmmaking the past 2 days. This breakout is packed with information, both from a technical and a sensible perspective. It was so great to hear what the standards are, and then how Sarah shoots and why as a hybrid shooter. I especially love the detailed information provided on editing since this is such a huge part of making a successful film. Beyond all the material this breakout provides it’s an absolute JOY to listen and see Sarah present the information in such an upbeat and hilarious manner. Her love of her craft is contagious, and has sparked a renewed interest for me in documenting my own family with video.
This is a MUST HAVE breakout. Filmmaking can seem intimidating and yet Sarah breaks in all down in a way that feels accessible and fun. Her materials are beautifully organized and her sunny personality make the whole experience a complete delight!
Well, I’m your fan girl so this is getting weird. Thank you for the kind words!
I am absolutely LOVING this breakout !! I am working my way through (in the evenings when the kids sleep, b/c self isolation mom life with 4 kids at home is nuts) and learning so much !! Sarah’s natural way of talking & teaching makes it so enjoyable to watch & listen to her. She is funny & real & explains everything in a really understandable way !! Don’t even think about, buy this breakout right now !! My many double explanation points should really drive home how amazing this is !!
