Storytelling with Color is an introduction to shooting and processing images with intentional color. This shooting-centered course focuses on not only using color, but understanding the more subtle nuances of understanding and interpreting color. Color is a language. It is embraced universally as a way to share a myriad of thoughts and feelings, but most people do not get beyond a basic understanding. We are here to explore and learn about the way color has been used historically, how our brains and eyes understand color, and how we can communicate more effectively with color. This course is here to stretch your imagination and comfort level with color experimentation. Let’s dive in!

Students should be comfortable using manual mode.

Weekly lessons include daily discussion and supplemental activities.

VIDEOS and SUPPLEMENTAL ACTIVITIES
Students will be given creative exercises for exploring color in their daily lives as well as video instruction in color-manipulation through editing.

WEEKLY INSTRUCTOR-LED Q&A
Full participation students engage in instructor-led discussion and Q&A for daily interaction and support. Study along students have full viewing access.


INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT FEEDBACK & CRITIQUE

Caroline Jensen is an award-winning photographic artist that lives on the wild prairie. Her passion for storytelling and creating art from the world around her has led her to photograph a wide range of subjects in her signature artistic style. She finds her niche in painterly images with dramatic light and enjoys focusing on one subject, whether that be a person, her original recipes, or flower. Her style, while ornate in processing, strives for a simplicity that guides the viewer’s eye to the heart of the image. A passionate educator and writer, Caroline has been featured in numerous publications and runs four workshops through Click Photo School. She has the honor of being named a Sony Associate Artisan of Imagery, and X-Rite Coloratti. You can find her stock images at Offset.
how it works

Full Participation students engage in an interactive online classroom experience that includes instructor-led group discussions and detailed, personalized guidance for the duration of the workshop. Full participation students post their assignments in the workshop and receive critique each week.

Study Along students have access to all materials and are able to view all content and conversation in the main workshop. Study along students will not be able to ask the instructor questions or request instructor feedback on their assignments, but they can follow along with instructor critiques of the Full Participation assignments.
