Exposure Triangle, Metering, and The Zone System

We begin by learning the elements that make up the exposure triangle, which is the key to manual mode. We'll explore metering modes, how to use a meter, and how to dial in the correct exposure using the Zone System.

Focus and Shutter Speed

This week, we'll learn about focus modes and discover how to nail perfect focus in your images. We'll discuss shutter speed and explore using it both to freeze motion in our images and to show motion blur creatively.

Week Three

Depth of Field and Aperture

We'll cover depth of field and learn how to get just the right amount of your frame in focus and use background blur to our advantage. We'll explore aperture, distance, and focal length to see how purposefully choosing each of these elements can change the outcome of your images.

ISO, Histograms, and White Balance

This week, we'll cover ISO and learn how to minimize noise in our images. We'll chat about histograms and how we can use them in the field to check our exposure. And finally, we'll talk about how to choose the correct white balance to best represent the light and colors in our frame.
